messed up timing? Sign In

my 96 nissan pickup 4cyl was running weak and i thought it was bad gas. then a couple days later it died completely. i tried to get it to start after pouring gas in the carborator. im getting fire from my distributor to the plugs, so i changed the timing chain and put the rotor button on number 1 while the crankshaft was in tdc, but still not firing. i also noticed that my rotor button turns counterclockwise and i dont remember it doing that before. i switched all the plug wires around to match it but it still wont start.

could it possibly be that i rotated the crankshaft 360 degrees out of sync with the camshaft?

I just deleted your other question, Please stop making duplicates.

As fr your question about the timing chain.......
No, that can't be done. The only place it matters is putting the distributor in. You have to make sure you were on the compression stroke.

Run a compression test. What are your readings?

Hints:

Make sure battery is fully charged
