idle quality keeps changing

Jeff, the problem has been there for about two years. But lately, it seems to be getting worse. Having the timing belt changed did not make a difference. And now, sometimes it starts right off, and sometimes starts hard with a screeching sound. And I swear that there are new noises from the side of the motor with the timing belt and water pump. There seems to be a humming sound from that side, also. Any ideas, please?
