idle quality keeps changing?! Sign In

Unsure OKay. Sorry I haven't responded in a while. FORD has been working me to death making Mazdas at Flatrock. Anyways, on my 2L DOHC VIN code 3 2003 Ford Focus. I drive 60 -70 mph to work and back, usually 60. Now that it's turning colder, it seems to suck gas even more. I'm getting 30-35 mpg right now (72 miles at 60-65 mph on the highway). I have seen this car do much better than this. I have had it looked at by a few shops, and they can't find a vacuum leak. I changed the ignition coil, wires, and plugs, plus the mass air flow sensor, and I got my acceleration back. But it still has a rough idle. It has had this since 30k, and it now has 125k on it. The idle is rougher in the morning, when I get off of work. When I go, in the afternoon, it's not so bad. The rough idle comes and goes, no matter what time of day, also. In other words, it is rough at startup, and then rough when it feels like it. I'm at a loss as to why. I have changed everything I can think of in the last two years. No codes. I'm going through $35 in gas every two days. Either my gas gauge is lying, or it sucks more gas after an eight of a tank on the gas gauge. And it seems to take a while to idle down after parking in my driveway or at work. Any ideas, please? Thank you.
