ive got a 1992 holden commodore vp and will i go uphill it the temp gauge gos ups

Don't have that vehicle here in the states, so information is limited.

Does it overheat? Could be a number of things such as:

Restriction in the radiator/condenser impeding air flow
Radiator that has plugged transfer tubes or isn't efficient at transferring heat
Inoperative electric fan or bad fan clutch
Radiator cap that can't hold system pressure to what it is rated at
Nasty coolant or lack of coolant
Improper coolant concentration ratio
