I have a 2003 Honda Accord V6 and is coming up on 90,000 miles. Though I know it's not time to change out the timing belt I am preparing to do that. A local mechanic said that I should also change out the water pump since he'll be in there and the pump runs off the timing belt. Not being a mechanic it sounds reasonable but is it?

Yes, that is the normal thing to do. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Just to add, when you do the belt and pump get an OEM pump from the dealer. You may pay a little more, but the quality is a whole lot better. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
