fuel mileage Sign In

I have a 98 chevy silerado 4 wheel drive with a 5.7 litre engine. The engine has been recently rebuilt using all gm parts with all new wires and hoses and a new distributer.I changed both catalytic converters and two of the 4 o2 sensors because they showed up as a fault on the computer.
the other 2 sensors don't show a fault but i'm only getting 12 mpg. Could these two be sending a high voltage but not high enough to creat a fault and this is telling the computer to enrich the fuel?

Thanks
Mike

Re: fuel mileage Sign In

Were you getting something different before?

You know what one of the biggest and most overlooked factors in fuel economy is? Tire inflation.

If you have a small car, drop the pressure to 15psi & push it a ways. Then air the tires up to the correct specs for the car and push it. It will be obvious what low inflation does to MPG..

Correct wheel alignment helps as well, even tread pattern will make a difference...
