flooding Sign In

1993 Blazer S-10 4x4 v-6 vortex engine. Ran real rough, parked, next day would not start. Heavy smell of fuel in engine compartment, and out the tailpipe. Replaced cap/rotor/Control Module, wires, plugs,coil, cvr valve, throttle position sensor, and the valve sensor that acts like a choke on fuel injection. Now getting some spark, cranks, no start, still heavy fuel smell in engine compartment and out the tailpipe? What would be the next step to check for and replace????Crazy

If you have spark and a strong smell of fuel,I would suspect a faulty injector or fuel line to injector unit..
remove upper intake plenum to inspect...

does your setup look like this?.....

I will have to pull the top cover to see if it looks like the breakdown you gave. Do you think it may also be the fuel regulator as a possibility? Thank you.

If you have the central port fuel injection, the fuel pressure regulator is part of the unit..
the CPI is replaced as a complete unit.

IF yours is a vin # w then you have this set-up
If yours is a vin # z then you have TBI injection and looks entirely different. you can see the 2 injectors...

If you have to pull the top cover ,then you have CPI.

This is Strawberry's husband. We've been in cold and snow. So have not worked on the truck since her inquiry. Perhaps I can explain in better detail.

Vehicle is a 1993 Chevy Blazer T-10 series 4x4. VIN code "W", it has the L-35 V-6 engine option, with ("Vortec") Central Multiport Fuel Injection. Looks exactly as the diagram you'd posted.

When warm, it's flooded. It will start only when cold. And then idle roughly. Fuel is running out of the exhaust system. A quickly forming puddle of liquid, and gas (steamy.) Seems like a lot for an injector? I am fairly certain we're looking at fuel pressure regulation, as the culprit.

None of our area auto parts stores show anything. Except a tiny selection of TBI parts. I'm betting this is probably a dealer item only? We were at the Chevrolet dealership today. For reasons unknown to us, they couldn't find anything listed, earlier than 1996. Ours should have been used 1992-1995. Their 1996 diagram does not match what you posted.

As our dealer can't seem to find the injector assembly listed as a part in their computers, would anyone know the Chevy p/n we need?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi Tom-

Everybody in town had that part. However, looking at paperwork which came with it, my impression was this piece is intended only for TBI use. Our vehicle is not TBI.

???

Ok: this is the other one listed?? It said this was for 3% of the 4.3 vortecs which is rare that did have the TBI system?? The other was called CPI?? Hey - that's just open to surf at Autozone and they have errors too in their inventory and parts. Just click on whatever highlights your cursor on that above and re-enter info and see if something there looks like what you need. Is there a chance this is early or late in the model year and there was a change??

This is what you think you need isn't it? Perhaps we are off on the wrong path here?

That's another piece for TBI. Sits on the top of a throttle body. The previous part fits underneath it.

Especially in cool air. Leaving a pan under the tailpipe for about a minute, those resulting contents reeks of raw gas. And dropping a match into that pan, there is instant fire.
