I have a 2002 Lexus ES300 with a 3.0 V-6. It cranks for an extended time before starting. There are no codes and it runs fine once it has started. It has 60,000 miles. I have not connected a fuel pressure gauge, I assume it is either a fuel pump or pressure regulator.

Your on the right track. It could be a bad check valve in the pump allowing the fuel to siphon back into the tank or possibly a lazy relay not energizing right away. You need to hook up a fuel pressure gauge before attempting to start it so you can see what the pressure does.

I looked up in the manual how to hook up the pressure gauge, they claimed you need a fitting from Toyota. I am used to the Schrader type valve used on the domestics. I will hook the gauge up once I find an adapter. I was just wondering if there has been a common fault like the pump check valve.
