engine wont start

all lights radio heater ding ding ding when door is open works all guages work. i can hear what i believe to be fuel pump priming up when i turn the key the engine does not try to turn over at all. when it will start it starts with no problem it just starts up cleanly only in neutral. nightwork

(edit and add first of two posts on this car.... first post will be deleted but read as this.....
1994 buick regal 301 liter 120,643 miles. engine won't start in park only in neutral and only after i go through all gears and i am able to find right sot near neutral. when i bought car previous owners were starting car with screw driver to starter. when i put a new starter on twice car would start up in park for short time but mostly have to start it when it would start in neutral. now if i can get it to start usually weeks apart it starts only in neutral. have read all 73 posted pages trying to find an answer help nightwork

OK: let's see if we can get the ducks in a row here.
All odds IMO is this is a "Neutral Safety Switch" issue. May need adjustment or possibly replacement but bet is on adjustment of linkage,

PS: I know it's a typo - but a 301 liter engine! OMG - what is it a cruise ship?
