ok check this out if im driving on the hwy the engine tries to die out but if i pump the gas it stays running and doesnt do it all the time..sometimes at a stop light or just ideling to..what to do????? 1999 chevy lumina 3.8

I would think you would have a code stored for this. Pumping the gas doesn't really pump gas like a carb it lets more air in and the car figures it out from there. Check air cleaner assy that it is all secure and no damage and while around look for vacuum leaks and any wires that don't look secure. Don't know what else to say with an intermittent problem,

I had a 93 Cavalier Z24 that had the same problem. I fixed it by pulling the plug to the torque converter.
