1979 c10,with jasper 350,bought truck with engine.had to replace head gasket and noticed piston head has 6.0 stamped on it. the motor now smokes when first cranked, and when I first take off.what do i need to replace, and how do i know what size would fit this engine. I was told that this stamping on the piston head means that this engine has been bored out,and that normal parts would not fit.

Now your going to have to do what should have been done when you had the heads off, send them out to the machine shop so they can be checked. Sounds like you have some bad valve guides and seals so your looking at a valve job. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
