I've got a 2002 chevy p/u with a 6.0L engine, it has 169144mi. engine rpm's vary and it takes 2-3 attempts for it to start. I've changed the idle control valve and the coolant sensor and there's no change.

Use a fuel pressure gauge to test for correct fuel pressure, also noticing if the pressure holds when key is shut off. The required spec is 55 to 62 PSI ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
