engine performance chip

I have a 2004 GMC Envoy with a 4.2 liter engine and has been driven 55,000 miles. I can not quite maintain 55 mph in 4th gear while towing my 23 ft house trailer. I am thinking of instaling a variable engine performance chip from: http://www.engineperformancechip.com/...formance-chip-x2-p-8
They claim the replacement chip can increase hp, adjust for more efficiency when extra hp is not needed, do no harm to my engine nor void whatever warranty is left on my 5 yr old GMC.
Are their claims accurate and can the addition of this chip give me the extra hp I need?

Well, they are wrong on just about every count.
It WILL effect your warranty
- Will your performance chip void my warranty?
- No, our modules will not void out most warranties. The module is made to be able to be removed and re-installed in case of a warranty repair.
It IS against Federal law to do it in the first place
Saying it can increase efficiency and HP is just an oxymoron. You can't get both and I doubt they can give you much of either.
What they are doing is manipulating the shift points, timing and fuel mixture.

Like HT said there is no way you are going to get more HP & fuel economy especially since those system are designed to maintain as close as possible a stoichiometric air/fuel ratio of 14.7 to 1 which is where it will be it's most efficient.
Since those claims are false combined with the way they want you to tap into the wiring harness. Scotch loks & butt connectors???? Man they have to be kidding... I would be very suspect of anything they say.
I see by your post you are towing a 23' trailer with a 6 cylinder. Thats a big load for a 6 cyl. I know it probably not possible but the best option would be a bigger rig. Anything you do to get more HP is going to cost you in fuel economy and put a bigger load on a system that is probably already being pushed to the limit which is going to be hard on the whole drivetrain in the long run.....

alsevans; Agree with HT and Sidom. With that said, there are a couple other things that caught my attention.
1. Do not tow in 4th (OD) gear. You will fry the transmission. Check your owner's manual.
2. Have you checked your owner's manual to make sure that your vehicle can handle the weight of a 23' trailer? I'd be really surprised if it can, legally or safely. The trailer has got to weigh around 4000#, or more.
A four cylinder Pinto could pull your trailer. But, stopping it is a bigger concern. The demand on your 4.2L engine and transmission is a lot to ask for.  I'd be concerned pulling a 19' trailer with that vehicle.
