decreased mpg Sign In

I have a 2004 hyundai sonata 4 cyl with 170,000. The car loses power and feels like it is either fuel starved or running way too rich. Low power at high speeds. Even when floored the rpms will not increase and power is stagnant. Pressure is good in fuel line, compression pressure is good, converter checked good. I've changed the plugs, plug wires, coil packs, cleaned fuel injectors, and changed O2 sensor. (it actually ran better for a while when I unplugged the O2 sensor). Could the problem be a clogged fuel filter or bad EGR? It does require a little more crank to start now days. Fuel mileage is lower by 25-35%.

Is the check engine light on? How did you confirm the converter as being good?

Re: decreased mpg Sign In

with that kind of mileage its a good idea to change the fuel filter:)
if that dont do it i would start checking for vacuum leak
