i have a 1988 oldsmobile nintey-eight and im not sure if i need a new catalyac converter or not. the hose in front of the converter coming from under the hood right up to the converter itself has dissconnected due to rust. do i need a new catalyac converter or another part since its the hose in front of it not the converter itself.

Some can be fixed with repair kits and keep the big buck converter if ok otherwise. Is not the easiest DIY but you decide. A good shop should be able to advise you on what can or can't be done for that,
