Is it safe to switch to synthetic oil and a different grade? There is no sign of a leak but the engine is consuming oil. The recommended interval?

What year and miles + how good have you been changing oil on it all along?

Synthetic is plain better oil IMO and use nothing else in anything. Over a zillion years of it now notice some switched over at age or miles will consume some more right away then less later if just normal engine wear.

If this consumption of oil is new you really need to find out why. Normal engine wear doesn't just wear all of a sudden unless run too low or a problem happened.

I SPECIFICALLY DO NOT SUGGEST CHANGING SUGGESTED OIL VISCOSITY on anything you expect to keep. That's an extinct way to cover a problem not realistic for much less than about 40 years old about now,

Never heard of a vehicle called a carprice.se. All engines consume oil. If it is consuming more oil than it should, you'd be wasting your money using synthetic oil.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
