i bought a 1997 chrysler cirrus and i took it to an auto shop and had the heads and timing belt replaced
a couple weeks later, as im driving, im just driving about 45 and the car just stops accelerating so im slowing down with my foot on the gas and it just starts accelerating out of nowhere. it keeps on doing this as im trying to get where i need to be and it finally just dies and i can't get it started again...
well i replaced the distributor and cap on it and it worked again just fine and then in a couple of weeks it did the same exact thing on the highway and it's not starting again...
the distributor is sparking so that can't be it?
there is no check engine light on either
so now it's just sitting there again

You said the heads were replaced and begs the question as to WHY?
I'm wondering about an exhaust restriction which get worse as it runs for a while. Don't know, but whatever caused you to need new heads could be a clue,

Okay the distributor isn't sparking anymore...
What could be making the distributor burn out so quick?
Thanks for your help by the way
I really don't know why the heads needed to be changed...
I'll try to figure it out.

Many things can make spark just cease - usually in an instant. You implied that it took a short while before it quit so that's a clue.
Needing BOTH heads replaced suggest something aweful has happened to this engine. Is this one head as would be in the four cyl. or two as would be in the six? Most of the time a head can be fixed and for two to be rendered unusable is unusual. Did you overheat to some wild extreme? Electrical parts don't fare well with that kind of heat. That's why I asked.
It's also odd that such an extreme repair was allowed to be done on this engine without you knowing WHY! Even when that's known it just helps to lead to the likely area of failure,
