Are you even going to bother on a 1990 civic? Bad enough to keep driving when known hot. Head gasket would have been a weak link and either the cause of the overheat or result now. Adding water to a hot engine just might have cracked parts if done improperly. Oil on a plug? Was it fresh or like it had been bad on that cylinder for a while? Head needs to be sent out anyway to see if it can even be used again. As I said - are you going to bother? T

It's going to be a "learning car" the way it looks. Check for things you can see by eye on head and block for hairline cracks if found it over for this engine. We know the head needs to be sent out but is the block ok? Overheating would hit the head first but you really pushed it so the book is open. Is it worth it for parts for another or do you have good access for parts for it cheap as I doubt the car overall is worth all that much, T
