car is hard to start after valve job Sign In

2003 VW Jetta 1.8T 78,000 miles. The Timing belt broke on the expressway and took the valves and many other parts with it. My mechanic had valve job done, replaced water pump and many more parts that went with it. The car runs great but the check engine light has keeps coming on and it is very hard to start. I got it started on the third attempt and drove it back over to my mechanic. He replaced a sensor which the auto parts receipt says "hall sensor spo 0-232-101-024 and it started right up. After it was back at my house, the same problem occurred. Engine light came on when I started it and then it wouldn't start the next time I tried to go somewhere. It is back at the mechanic's place of business but he says he has 'no idea'. Can someone give us a clue as to what he might have missed when he put the engine back together?

well, i dont know where you took your car, but i would tell the mechanic that he needs to figure it out, because it is obviously something he did wrong, or you will take it to the VW dealer and he will have to pay the bill to fix it. see what he says. good luck.

Awwww, he is a good guy and he has never worked on the Turbo engine before. He is a great Chevy mechanic. I am not mad at him but I would like my car to run right. Thank you for the advise. I am trying to avoid the dealer as it is over an hour from my home.

With all this work just done and it doesn't even run right now it's back to basics. Does it get fuel, spark, have compression and valve timing on time? Chase down the stuff that isn't showing proper of those,

T
