HELP. I have a 1999 Nissan Altima. I just got the radiator and a new alternator put in. The alternator is rebuilt.

When i sit at a stop light the car shuts off and i must put it in park and then turn off the car and turn it back on. Then it takes forever to accelerate.

Also when i turn right after starting the car it makes an awful squeling noise.

thanks for any help you can give me.
I am a college student and need 411 so I am not tricked by mechanics

Hey! You come here to ask mechanics for help (for free) and pretty much call us all "tricksters!" That approach isn't winning any points with volunteers to help you! If you've had a bad experience with any biz you should bring it up with the place or person - not paint the whole trade as a problem!

I'll forgive the comment for now and suggest that the belt may be too loose - perhaps out of limits to self tension or a pulley failure. Check PS fluid level while you are there too and if low find out why. Stalling could be voltage from battery slowly losing charge due to loose belt and would account for the PS squeel as well,

I dont mean to offend anyone. I have had many problems with mechanics and it has caused me to go into great debt. Sorry for the sterotype. I thank you for all the FREE help you give.

When i take it in tomorrow I will ask about that.
Thanks SO MUCH!

ps. you are restoring my faith in humanity!
