I am working on a 94 diamante and found it had a broken bolt. This is the bolt that holds the T-belt tensioner.I later tried to drill it out with an autozone titanium bit.Soon as the bit went through I felt it snap! I can see that the bit is flush on the bolt,So I then tried to drill it out with another smaller titanium bit and it broke off too. What should I do now?

Yuk! That could be a real nightmare. No doubt this is hardened steel (titanium) in an alloy. I can't think of nice words for this Without seeing it exactly I can't be sure of the best approach now. Broken off flush makes it all that much harder to boot. Maybe a tiny wheel could make a slot for duh - a slotted screwdriver, penetrating oil - PB does as well as any out there. Heat or cold - heat on targeting outer area or cold which is near impossible to target broken drills quickly and if wrong with heat that's the end of that. Tough one. Perhaps consult a machine shop. Hope the broken bolt isn't in the block itself, T

Thanks alot Tom, A guy that works with me tried using a steel drill bit on a powerdrill. He grinded the bolt and the bit away like they were nothing it only took him like 10 minutes,Now I'm gonig to try and buy a tap and see if this works. The bolt was a 12mm do you know of a place that sells single taps instead of paying $30 for something I'll never use again?

See if you have a bolt and screw supply house locally . The LOWES center in my area sells taps individually. LIFE'S SHORT GO FISH

Thanks Re-tired, What about a Home Depot? Around how much do they cost at Lowes? Do I need any special tools to other than grip-pliers?

I find singlel taps at a lot of hardware stores. If you have a bolt that didn't break try mesuring it, + bring it with you. Popular in 8mm seems to be -- 9mm - X - 1.25 and if you don't have the driver check the size of the square drive perhaps 1/4" and use a socket backwards or get a 1/4 eight point little socket and drive it with a 1/4 inch drive flex handle or ratchet that would be slower. Remember - when hole is right size you turn in a little and back up, blow out shreds with air and go further and repeat until just enough to be right for the bolt. Don't be busting a tap in the hole or you are in trouble again. Sears used to sell singles of stuff also which may vary store to store, T
