'90 4.3l in a '89 k1500. it was overheated, brought to meto do the heads. they machined flat and went together, i unpluged the tan/bk wire to set the base timing and the durm thing will start @0 degrees run a few seconds then jump 12 degrees.....in the timing light, start dropping rpm then die, yes the tan/bk is still unplugged. any one is welcome to jump in here, i am doin some serious head scratchin' Tom Greenleaf Ultimate Carjunky / Moderator Feb 10, 2010, 9:15 AM Post #2 of 3 (2147 views) Re: base timing a 4.3l Sign In Not certain but this engine may not use #1 cylinder for base timing.
