i have a 1985 gmc pickup 350cu. 4 bl carb, when first started it pops through talipipe for a while til warmed up. ive posted this before,havent fixed that problem yet. now when you shut it off it will backfire though tailpipe. i shut it off yesterday got out and walked about ten feet and it backfired again.any ideas. thanks frank

Sounds like you have carbon deposits in you cylinders. If you have a chunk of carbon in a cylinder after you shut it off it still can stay red hot and ignite un-spent fuel causing a backfire. I would recommend doing tera clean or you could do old trick with jug of water take of a vacuum line and suck in little bit of water at a time.. This will seam clean good for getting rid of carbon. Just don't let it suck up to much water at one time.
