My 1989 GMC S15 starts fine. But when I turn off the engine and wait about five minutes, the engine will turn over but not catch. Waiting another 15 minutes or so and the engine starts up fine again. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

OK - Some things to check 1st is fuel pressure while it's acting up a must. IDK at the age now if it is cranking at normal RPM it's most likely fuel related but could go thru the whole list also just check for presence of spark you can put one in line and watch it and leave it there for when it does it next but need a helper to trigger it to fire up/run don't really suggest doing that alone and you can but don't. Other: The vintage really hates ethanol that's in a lot of fuel. If an alternative available in your area seek that out but any damage is done still need to find out what's missing, fuel or spark. Oh - fuel you can fake with starting fluid just watch out for the stuff if it works and dies out it's lack of fuel and we can forget spark related problems, T
