Van Makes Noise!!!

I have a 92 Chevy Astro Mark III and it makes this really annoying whining noise. I have checked the power steering and that is not it. I checked the belts and they are all in great condition and so are the pulleys from what I can tell. I just changed the transmission filter because I got told that was the problem but it wasn't. Somebody please help me!

You may have a bad pulley or device. They can be tricky to find and taking the belt(s) off and spinning them could tell you. PS pump would be tough to tell without running it and a mechanics stethosccope, T

Is there any other equipment I could use as a mechanics stethoscope? I heard you can use a screwdriver and piece a tube. But I don't really understand that method. I don't have the money right now to go get a stethoscope, and need tips on cheaper methods of testing. Also what do you mean by running the pump?

By running the pump I meant that by hand you would have a tough time telling much about it.
If you do try making your own listening device make sure you rubber hose it like you mentioned ESPECIALLY IS DEALING WITH A RUNNING ENGINE -- do what I say not what could be done that I won't discuss as it's too dangerous, T

I'm sorry I didn't quite understand your last post. Could you please explain that to me in lament terms. Could you tell me if there is anything else I could to that isn't dangerous to my person, that is cheap but effective?

The idea is keep listening devices away from moving parts and best when rubber or remotely isolated from something being thrown at you or directly hurting you. Not worth the risk and this is a popular site so I can't discuss it for the world to read what many of us probably do, sorry about that, T
