Toyota mr2 hard start when cold and wont idle

I have a 1986 toyota mr2 with a 1.6 liter 16 valve dual overhead cam. It is hard to start warm or cold and wont idle properly. I have changed the cold start injector and the mass air flow meter but nothing changed. It seemed to start and idle a lot better with the oil cap off there seemed to be a lot of pressure coming out when i replaced the oil cap the car died. Any ideas of what it could be
