Too much oil in the engine

Plain and simple, I filled my engine with too much oil and within a few minutes I was shooting blueish/white smoke all over the road. Once we got the oil drained and refilled it, the check engine light wouldn't go off. A local mechanic figures one of the cylinders was shut off (not sure how this would be accomplished) as a fail-safe method, which would mean my car is running at 3/4 power (4 cylinder engine, Mazda 3.) The engine shakes pretty hard so this theory might be legit. The mechanic also thinks that oil might have sloshed into the engine-fume regulator, working its way back to some critical sensors, or maybe a spark plug was lubed up, causing it to misfire or fail-safe.
I take it into the shop tomorrow and was wondering what else might be the problem if none of the above come to be true? I rely heavily on my car and need it back in tip top shape a.s.a.p.!

It'll take some diagnosis to find out how much was damaged. There's no "fail safe" thing for this - it was too full and splashing where it shouldn't. Maybe if you are lucky replacing spark plugs - check the one if just one for compression and if low check them all. The "check engine" is probably o2 sensers gone nuts and may or may not clear.
Note: One of four cylinders down is not 3/4 power left. It throws it off so much it's more like half power and not good to run it that way at all,
