Timing belt changed in 3l diesel toyota hilux	Sign In

Changed my timing belt lined up tdc on top pulley and lined up correct withbottom pulley put new belt on rotated one revolution and tdc all lined up again.put it all back together started it and it sounds rough.Took of cover again.rotated manually to tdc, all lined up correct.What now? I'm at a loss

How did it run before you did the timing belt? Does the belt drive the injector pump and it is correctly timed too? We don't have that vehicle here in the states, so advice is limited.

Ran really sweet before and I assume the top ulley is the cam drive and the bottom one the injector?.as I said all the factory markers were lined up on both and still are.But when I start it the motor soounds louder and rattly

The bottom sprocket is connected to the crankshaft. The Top sprocket is connected to the camshaft. If the belt drives a large sprocket that is off to the right, that would be the injector pump. It has to be timed too.
