PROBLEM:
Oil pressure guage seems dangerously low- engine does not shutter or anything- runs well actually, no tapping or knocking whatsoever. Does not overheat. I've heard that there could be a "oil pressure blow off valve" stuck or somthin? It would make sense but I've never heard of such a part in an engine- can someone let me know if there's a fix outside of replacing the pump?

In case the answer is no- here's my next questions-

Well- I must be a bit crazy because I've heard that these engines are a pain to work on.. but I'm going to replace the oil pump. I'm looking for suggestions on where to get the part at a good price and what to expect and do when replacing it.

THE PURCHASE:
I was planning on getting the pump from a place called PartsGeek.com- Kragen/Oreilly wanted around $280 for it and partsgeek only wanted $137- the brand of pump from kragen was "AE Clevite" and the pump from partsgeek was "AISIN" are these brands comperable? or am i making a huge mistake picking the cheaper one (checked pics of both pumps, they are identical). Here's the links to the pumps I was looking at:

Kragen:

PartsGeek.com: http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/1996/honda/passport/engine_mechanical/oil_pump.html

THE WORK:
1) I had planned on plucking the engine because I have never worked with a crank shaft before and wanted to make sure not to scratch or damage it in any way by trying to reach it at an akward angle... unless someone has another suggestion- should I be coming at this thing from underneath instead? Am I making too big a deal about the crank?

2) I have no idea how tight the crank is gonna fit into the new pump... will I need a press or somthing to get it onto the crank shaft?

3) Will I need a special sleeve or bearing that is sold seperately that I dont know about that goes between the crank and the new oil pump? Can I reuse the old sleeve/bearing (if there even is one)... sorry- I really dont know much when it comes to crank shafts other than they're very very precise.

4) Since crank shafts carry oil- would it be a good idea to blow compressed air through it to clear out any junk? or would this damage some sort of oil component? Is there somthing else down there I should clean out while I'm there?

5) I know you're supposed to lube the pump with petroleum jelly before you install it so it doesnt run dry the first time- is there anything else like that I have to do that I dont know about?

6) Is there some break in period that I have to be aware of when running a new oil pump? If so how many miles?

7) I'm replacing the timing belt while I'm this far in the engine- is there anything else I should replace (we're on a very very tight budget, thats why I'm doing the work my self).

8) Are there any tricks/suggestions when pulling the harmonic balancer?

Sorry for having so many questions- I kinda feel like I'm biting off a lot with this one any suggestions or light shed would be very very much appreciated.

And thanks in advance to anyone who replies to this- I know you have better things to do with your time and I think its awesome you take a minute to help guys like me out.

Have to tested the pressure with a manual gauge to confirm low pressure?

No- dont really have an oil pressure checker... its just that with my grandpa's rodeo and my rodeo having the same low pressure issue (they're the same years and both high mileage), I figure it's probably not a sending unit issue. Any ideas where I can get the pressure checker on the cheap?

It might be cheaper to just replace the oil pressure sender to see if it changes anything. That's the part that goes bad in the gauges and they are not expensive. I certainly wouldn't do anything major without trying that first.
