I have a 2003 Chevry Astro Van. There's a tapping sound that sounds like from a valve when the motor is on. I checked the oil and it was fine. After turning the motor on and off I checked the oil again and it was a quart low so I put oil in. Still, it has that tapping sound. This happened before about 6 months ago and the mechanic said it was from an air pocket. Turned the car on and off and then it went away...right in front of me. It was fine last night. This morning well.... Is there a quick fix to get the air out or do you think it's something else? The van has 104,000 miles. Thanks

You have a valve lifter that is not holding pressure. That could be a bad lifter, low oil pressure or a sludged up engine. All of which are pretty major issues. I would try changing the oil very frequently a couple times and that may help things ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
