Stalls At Low Speed Sign In

My 92 Honda Accords sometimes stalls when I slow nearly to a stop or if I make an abrupt stop. I added some Lucas fuel conditioner to it and it rarely stalls unless it is an abrupt stop. Is there something more causing this?? I was told that the 10% ethynol fuel is the cause, is it or isn't it????

Did the fuel additive help?

Ethanol 10% is causing problems especially in some older cars. We are stuck with that where mandated.

Is idle speed normal with this car now? Does it run well otherwise?

Re: Stalls At Low Speed Sign In

It did help, but it will still stall it if I all of a sudden come to a complete stop. If I slow down normally it will not stall. The idle sits around 1000rpms, thats normal. I was thinking o changing the IAC because it does revs up the rmps about twice then settles back to about 1000rpms after about 5-10 sec.

But now my check engine light comes on. I know it must be a sensor, but it only does it after about 20 minutes of driving. If figure it must have something to do with the engine temp. since it happens only when the engine is hot. Changing the Eng. Temp. Sensor did not solve the problem. There must be another temp. switch or something gone bad...what you think?

Re: Stalls At Low Speed Sign In

1,000 RPMs is not normal. It sounds like it's trying to cover some problem now with that up that high. You might see if a code reading will reveal any clues. Not sure what a '92's puter would have in it's memory?

Guess I'd be cleaning throttle body, the IAC may be cleanable, and be checking for small vacuum leaks - hoses, gaskets -- anything to do with intake manifold vacuum and the snorkeling of the air thru ductwork along thru air filter to TB,
