Spark Plug replacing went bad!!
|

Hi
I was replacing spark plugs. The rubber grip from the socket came off and attached to the plug. Now it is jammed tight on the spark plug inside the engine. How do I get it out? Any idea? Pls help!! Thanks!

If you can't pick it out of there with something, then just remove the plug again with the same socket.

Thanks. I already tried that. I cant remove the plug. It wont catch the bolt.

Actually the rubber grip was misaligned inside the engine. When using the same socket to remove the plug, it has this spongy feel to it. There is no grip. Also, I tried to use a long plier, but it was 5 inches deep and there was not much room to work with.
I have also tried using valcumn cleaner with strong sucking power--DIDNT WORK!!
Alternately, someone has suggested to me that to leave it in and fire up the engine. The heat from the engine will melt the rubber leaving me with just the spark plug and some melted rubber. Is this a good idea?

Don't think melting the rubber is a good idea.
Have you tried using picks?

Problem solved!!!
Thank You for the idea. Unfortunately, Honda/Acura engine are made too compact for any of these picks to fit in. Nevertheless, the idea seems to be right. So I modified your idea and bought some fishing hooks ;and yanked it out of there.

The picks would have worked. We use them all the time and we are quite familiar with Honda spark plug tubes and how much room they have.
