I have an 2007 Hyundai entourage 6cyl 37,000 miles.and the engine light is on and the mini van won't really go until I press the gas all the way down. The dealership says it is due to not changing the oil enough and the sludge has damaged the two oil control valves. Service said it will take about 4 hours to take manifold off and change valves and bleed the oil system a couple of times. They are charging $827.00 with tax, does this sound right or should I take it to a mechanic instead of the Hyundai dealership? ANY HELP

That sounds entirely possible. I wouldn't trust that job to anyone but the dealer because it involves the variable cam timing and can get messed up very easily if they are not familiar with it. I'd say your pretty lucky that is all that is damaged since you didn't change your oil when you should have. Maybe you wiil learn something about ignoring car maintenance with this experience. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
