I have a 2004 L300-2 3.0L and recently we've been having some weird issues with it. Every once in a while the engine will not turn over, try and try and it just won't turn over, then eventually it will and will run great. Just today my wife was at stop light and when she went to push on the gas nothing happened. So she turned off the car, and tried to turn it over and it wouldn't turn over. Five minutes later after trying it turned over and ran perfectly fine. Is a sensor out? It's not throwing any codes as of yet. So I don't know. Please help!

I think you may be using the terminology incorrectly. "Turning over" means the same as cranking. It sounds like what you have is an engine that is turning over (cranking) but not starting. Is that right?

Ya sorry, so it's totally at random it started up fine the last two days and then today it wouldn't start only after trying for ten minutes then it started and ran great no weird noises or anything, then just stalled at a stop light and again took five or ten minutes to start back up. My only guess from research is it could be a camshaft and or crankshaft sensor or a fuel pump. But I'm not getting an engine light or any codes when I run a scan tool.

There could be any number of things causing that and the only way it can be diagnosed is to run a series or tests while the problem is present and the car isn't starting. It will require some inexpensive testers, a fuel pressure gauge and some electrical knowledge to test it. I can supply you the instructions if you are capable or have someone else that is.

Another thing to think about is the electronic throttle control system. You did state that when she went to accelerate from a light nothing happened. I am assuming from reading that the engine was idling, but hitting that gas pedal didn't do anything, but the engine just continued idling. You really should be focusing on the TAC system if that is the case.

Quote
Reduced Engine Power Mode

When the ECM detects a condition with the TAC system, the ECM may enter a reduced engine power mode. Reduced engine power may cause one or more of the following conditions:

- Acceleration limiting - The ECM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control; however, the vehicle acceleration is limited.

- Limited throttle mode - The ECM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control; however, the maximum throttle opening is limited.

- Throttle default mode - The ECM will turn off the throttle actuator motor and the throttle will return to the spring loaded default position.

- Forced idle mode - The ECM will perform the following actions:

- Limit engine speed to idle by positioning the throttle position, or by controlling the fuel and spark if the throttle is turned off.
- Ignore the accelerator pedal input.
- Engine shutdown mode
- The ECM will disable fuel and de-energize the throttle actuator.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

I have same type of issues with same make & model car except when it's running with cruise control on randomly the engine rpm goes crazy and over revs like I'm trying to floor it but I'm not it's done it a few times but I had mechanic check it out and he said it never did it to him & no DTC came up when he checked or engine light has never came on. Now after months of not driving it because I live 15 miles from everything and don't want to be stranded after I shut car off and then it won't start back up I used an obd scan tool & everything shows ok except DTC p0700. What is the problem?
