98 Ford SVT Contour, 2.5 duratec. 125,000 miles but bought the car with 96,000 and only 6,000 on second motor.
Hey i have a 98 svt contour with a CEL that is showing a cylinder 2 misfire, it only flashes occasionally when accelerating. Several months ago I replaced all my injectors after one of them had a bad ohm reading. While doing that I also changes the plugs. Yesterday the misfire code started to appear, so today i check the coil pack and was getting a bad ohm reading on one of the towers so i replaced that. Seems to be running a lot better, but shortly into the test drive the cylinder 2 misfire codes made a appearance and yes we reset the code before the test drive. Although i have not changes the plug wires they seem to be solid and sprayed them with water to see if they would arc, which they did not. The only thing me and my buddy can think of is a valve but are going to do a compression test in the next couple days. Hopefully its not a bad valve but does anyone else have any other ideas. Your help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
When doing compression test took a closer inspection of plug wire and was becoming corroded so replaced and seems to have fixed the issue. Funny how that can take a crap after inspecting just a few months ago.
