95 CHEVY SILVERADO 5.7 V8 100000
HAS A SHUDDERING HESITATION BETWEEN THE 1000RPM TO TWO THOUSAND RANGE. NO CODES SHOWING. PREVIOUSLY REPLACED ERG VALVE WHEN CODE SAID TO. HAS NEW BOSCH PLUGS.
MOTOR RUNS FINE UNTIL IT WARMS UP. THEN AN OBVIOUS SHUDDER IN JUST THAT RANGE. ABOVE AND BELOW IT RUNS PERFECT BUT SINCE THAT'S THE MOST USED RANGE, THE COPS GIVE ME THE HAIRY EYE WHEN PASSING BY THEM.

Drivability problems aren't illegal.......yet...... So no need to worry about law enforcement..... That would really suck doing a bullet for a misfire & lean bank 1.....
With no codes it makes it a little tougher. The 1st thing to do would be to try narrow it down to where it's coming from, engine or drivetrain.
Try different gears, neutral, stuff like that and once you know for sure then you can start checking some other stuff.....

IT'S NOT THE DRIVETRAIN. IT'S A MISSFIRING FROM A SENSOR OR COMPUTER ERROR. [runs perfect until warm][i'm hoping for sensor.] THE ISSUE WITH THE COPS IS IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN THE PROPER SPEED LIMIT, I HAVE TO ACCELERATE OR DROP TO A CRAWL TO STAY LEGAL. THE 350 HAS VERY HEFTY KICK TO IT WHEN I GIVE IT SOME GAS AND MAKES IT APPEAR THAT I'M TEASING THE COPS. THE VIBRATION WHEN SHUDDERING MAKES OTHER VEHICLES GIVE ME A WIDE BERTH WHILE THEY WAIT FOR THE INEVITABLE EXPLOSION.

It's probably not a sensor. Usually when a sensor malfunctions it will set a code, not all the time but most of the time. The best thing to do would be to check out the basics 1st. Engine mechanical conditions, run a compression test, take a vacuum reading when its running good & when it's acting up. Check your fuel pressure, stuff like that.
You say you're sure it's in the engine. Can you get it to fail sitting there revving it up or do you have to drive it? If you have to drive it, it still could be an engine problem but obviously it would have to be under load.
If you're running a K&N air filter you might have trashed your MAF sensor..... Clean it 1st to see if that makes a difference and then try unplugging it & driving it....Some GMs don't like this so you may have to "help" it a little to drive it......
One thing I forgot to ask...... It this all factory or have you done any modifications to it?
I was just messin around with you with the cops, glad to see you took as it was meant & were a good sport about it......

I'LL HAVE TO RUN DOWN A VACUUM AND FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE.
ALL FACTORY. FILTER'S A WALMART FRAM. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN IN IDLE BECAUSE THAT'S 600 -700 RPM AND I HAVEN'T NOTICED MISSING WHILE REVVING. PROBLEM STAYS STRICTLY IN THE 1000 - 2000 RANGE. BELOW 1000 FINE. ABOVE 2000 HEADING FOR THE FINISH LINE. UNDER LOAD I WOULD HAVE TO SAY YES BUT I'M NOT SURE IT'S SPECIFIC TO THE LOAD. MY GUT SAYS IT'S THE RPM RANGE THE MOTOR IS COASTING IN AS THAT'S OPTIMUM MPG RANGE FOR THE GEAR RATIO. DEFINITELY MISSFIRING, BUT I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S TOO RICH OF LEAN. ACTUALLY... I'M LEANING TO RICH.[groan] SINCE THAT'S THE "COASTING SPEED". WHEN YOU ACTUALLY SAY THE WORDS, IT TENDS TO POINT ITSELF OUT.
I DO HAVE AN EGR QUESTION. WHEN I CHANGED IT THEY WERE SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT. PIN NUMBERS MATCHED BUT THE APERTURES WERE DIFFERENT. THE OLD ONE HAD A COLLAR THAT INSERTED INTO THE HOLE, WHILE THE NEW ONE DIDN'T. SAME DIAMETER, BUT NO COLLAR. THE MISSFIRE PROBLEM PREDATED THE CHANGE. AND IT HAD A CODE WHICH DISAPPEARED AFTER THE CHANGE.

Have you done cap rotor & wires? My 92 has 180K and runs best with Autolites. I have always run Autolites in my GM's, they just worked better IMO.

The incorrect orifice washer on the EGR could cause problems but yours is in the range where you really wouldn't notice an EGR problem....
CH has a very good point......If there is any overdue maintenance tune stuff.......by all means do it......regardless it would need to be down anyway.

I don't know about the Autolite in GM part though. GMs are engineered to run on Delco parts and it's always best to stay with Delco. Autolites work good in Fords.

I DO REGULAR MAINTAINENCE EVERY EARLY SPRING AND LATE FALL. WHICH INVOLVE AN OIL CHANGE AND PLUG CHECK, AND IF NECESSARY CHANGE, THE BOCSH PLUGS ARE NEW BY A SUGGESTION FROM ANOTHER FORUM. THEY ACTUALLY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM FOR A FEW WEEKS. THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND WIRES ARE GOOD IDEA AS I'VE NEVER CHECKED THEM. HERE'S A THOUGHT... THE IGNITION MODULE?

In my opinion the Bosch plug is the absolute worst choice you could make for that vehicle. I do a lot of driveabilty repairs and I have had a number of misfire problems brought to me that turned out to be caused by new Bosch spark plugs, especially in Ford products. The discount parts places push the hell out of them because they make the most on them.

I didn't recommend any Champion. I recommend Delco and nothing but Delco. That's the plug that was specifically engineered for that car.

I don't use Bosch water pumps much but it's good to know I dodged that bullet. It's weird how Bosch plugs work so good in Euro imports but run like crap in domestics.

I have been in this business over 40 years and Champion and Delco have NEVER been the same company or even affiliated with each other.
Champion has been the OE plug for Chrysler and Delco is not only the OE plug but owned bt GM also.

Albert Champion founded the Champion Spark Plug company in 1904 and lost the company shortly after to his investors. He then went on to create AC spark plug in 1908, although the Champion spark plug company played no part whatsoever in the new company. On October 27, 1927, Champion died of a heart attack. General Motors purchased the remaining stock held by Champion's estate and took over the AC company. On December 1st of that year, AC became a full division of General Motors. In 1971, United Motors Service was renamed United Delco Division. A few years later United Delco and the AC Spark Plug Division combined to form the company we know today as AC-Delco.
I'm not going to argue with you about my own trade. I assure you that Champion Spark plugs have never been made by or affiliated with Delco. The only connection between the two is that they were founded by the same person as different companies.
If you don't like the advice, then go right ahead and put anything you want in there.

If you haven't been down that road yet, make sure you grab the impeller and give it a good hard twist while holding the drive pulley before ever installing one.... ARGUS......If you've never changed the cap, rotor & wires........ I think now would be a good time to do it or at the very min at least pull the cap & inspected........ I think CH nailed this one................
