Rough Idle 2013 Savana

2013 GMC Savana 2500 4.8L V8 90k miles I first noticed this because I can feel an unusual idle in the driver's seat at red lights. There is a random bumpiness present in the the idle. Listening from the outside, there are clicking noises from the engine and a pronounced change in engine sound, heard most clearly near the exhaust pipe. It sounds as thought the engine is revving way down--at the lowest point the exhaust pipe shakes a bit. Seems to be worse after several hours on the road. A couple of times there was slight lurch as I stopped, but there have been many, many more times it did not lurch. No check engine light on. A local mechanic could not find anything other than a dirty throttle body, which they cleaned, but it didn't help at all. They checked the battery also, said it was fine. Shortly after this started I noticed another issue: I can often feel a grinding sensation in the accelerator. Particularly on the freeway when there are subtle changes in the pavement, causing the van to bounce just a hair. I doubt the problems are related, but I really don't know. Any advice is greatly appreciated. My description may be vague, so I took a video that I think captures the issue okay: https://youtu.be/lc5lrvC4RJM

The CEL is off, but you still need to scan for codes - did you? No modifications no added devices, GPS, audio, something plugged into DLC? Poor running and no codes might want to check fuel pressure...

Did your mechanic inspect the exhaust system? Bang on the pipes and see if anything is loose or vibrating. Maybe do a good visual of the exhaust heat shields. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

@kev2: No mods at all. Honestly, I'm not sure if the the mechanic scanned for codes. @Discretesignals: They probably did not inspect in detail. I will try that with the pipes. @Hamertime: The clicking sounds more like a solenoid closing than a spark. You can hear it in the video. Thanks for the relpys, guys. I was hoping this might be a common issue, but it looks like it could be any number of things. I don't really want to go back to the same mechanic after they have already displayed a lack of interest in getting to the root of the issue. I am in Arlington, TX and gladly will take suggestions on a good shop.

Good call. I will take it to Auto Zone in the morning and see what they can pull up.
