Changed O2 sensor after having codes read at Autozone. Now we can't get the car to idle right. It is a 2002 Ford Focus with 50K on it. Owner's manual says you may have to run 2-3 cold start, normal driving sequences to put the service engine light out but doesn't tell how to get the computer to relearn the idle. The service engine light went out after the O2 sensor was installed but the idle is still rough and tries to die at stoplights.
Any body know the actual procedure to reset the idleon this model?

Not sure but I think the car will re-learn on its own fairly soon. If not hit back or maybe someone here knows how to speed up the process, T

I WAS SCANNING SOME OTHER POSTS ON THE SAME SUBJECT BUT A DIFFERENT MODEL AND THEY INDICATED LETTING IT IDLE IN PARK FOR 20 MINUTES THEN IN DRIVE FOR 5 MINUTES AND THEN DRIVING IT. IT WON'T HARM IT IF I TRY THAT DO YOU THINK?

Sorry about the capsUnsure didn't realize I had them on.

No you won’t hurt anything by driving it; it may act a little quirky until it does relearn.
