Hi I've got a W Reg (2000) Vauxhall Zafira, 1.6, 92k on the clock. I've owned it for 5 years and just had head gasket changed for the second time. I was recently told it's a common fault on the 1.6 - underpowered enginer for the size of the car. Anyway the cars in good condition, reasonable mileage so I had the gasket done. The head was skimmed (for the second time) but garage assured me there are 'marks' on the head so they know how far they can skim. Car has run fine for 2 weeks but this morning it developed a bad case of 'kangeroo petrol'. I convinced myself it was being stuck behind a slow bus with a cold engine as once I hit the dual carriageway it smoothed out and coming home from work it was fine. I've just come back from the cinema though and it was chugging again and I don't think I'm imagining a loss of power. When I parked up I smelt burning oil from the warm engine. It isn't over-heating and isn't losing water now... Do you think it's related? does it sound terminal? should i be driving it? It might also be worth mentioning I'm a lass who can just about find the bonnet catch so anything you recommend would be carried out by a mechanic (or scrap dealer as the case may be )

The first thing that comes to mind is the petrol filter or the pump , Seeing how im from the colonies or THE STATES , I think thats been used, Im wondering if i got a few items right about motoring about in your motorcar on the carriageway on your side of the pond. motorcar = car, automobile, vehicle, piece of sh_ _ lorry = truck bonnet = hood petrol = gas, fuel kangaroo petrol = I have no friggin idea friiggin = see intercourse carriageway = road dual carriageway = highway ,interstate skimmed head = machined head lass = young miss LIFE'S SHORT GO FISH

Too late I realised I had found an American website in a Google 'UK sites only' search... Mmmm - unsubscribing as we speak but thanks for the education :-)

wow RT. we should make you secretary of state. I had to read your post to figure out what the hell she was saying. You're destined for an ambassador position at the least.
