Rattle in the rear of my PT Cruiser
I have a rattle in the rear of my 2001 PT cruiser when I hit bumps. Not sure if it is a bad shock ow what. I have checked to see of anything is lose but I have found nothing. Has anyone heard of this being a problem and are there any common issues that I should know about.

Rattles can come from anywhere. Check your jack and all the accessories with it to make sure everything is clamped down securely. Lift the car and hit the exhaust with the heel of your hand to see if you can reproduce the noise. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Just to add: Beware of noises! They could be sometimes harmless or totally a warning of something serious. Suggest seeking pro help if needed to find it if difficult, T

Thanks, the first thing that I checked was to see if the exhaust, jack, etc were loose in the back that could make any noise but have found nothing. I searched the web and have read something about a Watts linkage and was wondering if that is what it could be/ I have not heard this term before so I need to research what this is and what it does. Thanks

Your not going to find your answer by researching the Internet. The car needs to be physically inspected. There is no other way to know what's going on with your car. Once you know where the noise is coming from, if you need more info about what you found, that would be the time to look to the Internet.

Hi....hope you. found your answer as I also have an annoying rattle rear left when hitting bumps....though if the brake is applied the rattle stops ! Iive been told to check the knuckle of the link arm as this may be the cause but if the car is jacked you'll find nothing as the weight needs to be on the link to check.......3 garages have looked whenever the car's been up but no success it seems.....Will have to check for myself.......
