I have a 98 chrysler cirrus lxi 2.5 lt. duel overhead cam. Might have seen my previous post. if so you know that I'm replacing my lifters. Well a problem has occured. A lifter slid out of a rocker arm and get this...fell through the oil return hole and has dropped into my oil pan. Well in order to get my oil pan off I must remove my exhaust causing more work and more money for gaskets. So I was wondering if it's ok to just leave the lifter in the oil pan until I can afford and have time to remove everything to get it out.

IMO and AYOR - if you are sure it's really in the bottom of the oil pan it probably won't hurt anything if just left there. I'm surprised oil return allowed it all the way - can you ge sure? Feel for it thru drain plug or something? If the rocker cover is easy enough to remove again you might just be able to get it back up and out with some fancy flexe magnetic pick up tools. I've managed some impossible things like that but there's one 1978 Olds in car heaven now with one of my Snap-On short extensions with it still that stayed for a long life of that car T

Thanks for the info I just left it in there Im about 95% sure it fell into the oil pan. One more question and I'm finished. All of the lifters have been replaced. my engine is still ticking not as bad but still pretty bad. I heard maybe it's the cam shaft or maybe the filter in the oil pan. I dunno honestly I know nothing about cars. Thats why my uncle does everything for me. so if there is a way to tell the cam shaft is bad can anyone let me know? thanks for any given info.

When you were there to replace the lifters in an overhead cam set up you would have been looking right at the camshaft and if a lobe was worn down more than a lifter could make up for it should have shown it. Screen oil pan if plugged would show low oil pressure and wouldn't select one lifter to tick one TMK, T
