Power steering pump pulley won't come off

I've got a 1984 Cadillac Deville with a 4.1L 250 engine. I need to get the pulley off of the power steering pump and I can't get it to come off. I had a puller and tried pulling off the pulley and it just twisted the arms and the puller just popped off. I had another homemade puller from when I was a machinist so I tried that one. I had to grind just a little bit off the legs and it fit perfect over the groove at the end of the pulley. This is a wide solid piece with nothing to twist and nice and short so the pressure was good and uniform. When I tried to pop the pulley off all it did was start to bend up and cut through the end of the pulley. I tried tapping the pulley while the pressure was pulling. It was soaked with power blaster 2 days ago and again this morning so that had plenty of time to sit.
This pulley still doesn't want to come off. Is it safe to use heat on this? Will I damage the pump if I use heat? I really need some help here guys.

HT posted what you need to get the pulley off in your other post.
With these pulleys, they are pressed on. There is no other way around it or special tricks to getting them off. If you don't want to damage the pulley, then that is what it takes.. Even with the correct puller they come off hard and going off the pictures you posted, yours will come off even harder with the rust issue...
If you heat it........1st it won't work and 2nd plan on buy a new pump because you will ruin the seals in the pump.
The key word is damage...... If you aren't concerned about ruining your pulley then use the 3 leg puller. At some point while pulling one edge of the pulley will start raising higher that the other sides. Rotate that side to the water pump side and pull the pulley just high enough to get the one bolt out that the pulley covers and r&r the pump. Afterwards the p/s pulley will wobble and may even throw the belt....
Those are the only 2 options........

Not uncommon that the power steering pulley needs a special little puller that you can get from auto zone on loan. It will not work in most cases with standard puller on many many cars.

Thanks to everyone who helped. I bought a puller and it was a piece of cake to pull the pulley and reinstall later. I'll probably never use this tool again but it was worth the $35 just to get the job done right.

Glad to hear ya got it going.........
It was worth the money..... You still came out ahead.....
As far as the puller goes...........I'm thinking eBay??????????

I was thinking the same thing or maybe I'll keep it just in case. It wasn't really that much money.

For that price I'd keep it. You know if you get rid of it the rule is that instantly you'll need it again for something and new pumps don't generally come with the pulley! Then you'll only find one for $150 thru Snap-On - works every time.
Want a tool to remove a ball joint from a '66 Corvair? You just know if I got rid of it the next day after some 35 years of having it, someone would ask if I had one!

I was thinking the same thing, for that price I might as well just keep it in case I ever do need it again. thanks for all the help.
