I just bought a 1995 For Ranger AT 4 wheel drive with a 4.0 V6 . I check gas mileage and it is only getting 10 MPH . Check Tire Pressure , air filter, and made sure hubs where unlocked . Please any ideas will help . Just sold Full size Bronco with 5.8 and it was getting 8 to 9 MPH . RICHARD L RUFF

Check engine light on? Is the engine running good? No drive-ability issue? Mileage? 10 mpg highway, city, or combined? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

EPA rated them around 15 mpg combined. The 4.0L is a little piggy too. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

From top post neither of those engines were getting expected MPG? What fuel are you using - same place and what % ethanol if known? These ran properly with no CEL on with mixed driving that's too low. Can ONE fuel station cheat? Been a long time but an older one could. Much harder with newer pumps. Something isn't adding up with two vehicles both off. All things matter like Nick said tire size if over sized would register fewer miles also the way you drive, the way you check for MPH should be the ave IMO of two fill ups at least, T
