I am overhauling a 3.4 v-6. During reassembaly, I set the cam in time with the crank according to what mark I can find on the crank gear. The mark is very faint. After I install the push rods and the rockers the engine locks up. Remove the rockers and it free's up again. I put a screw driver in the plug hole, and slowly brought the number 1 piston to the top, and then realigned my marks on the cam gear, installed the chainand rockers. Locked up again. The old and new cams are the same, everything else is right back where it came from(rockers,push rods, and lifters). The cylinder that I am using as number 1 is the left front one(as you are standing at the rear of the engine, facing forward). It is also the one that is stamped number 1 on the lower intake manifold. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I am missing?
