10w40 semi synth 5 l 20 (10w15) 0 30 fully synth 5 l Hey, I have a trusty peugeot Partner 1.9 Diesel, but I have a small issue upon cold starting which comes and goes but is getting slowly worse. The engine sounds like a bag of nails once started, but when warm is generally OK. The noise is a fairly harsh clacky kinda pinking sound, so I thought there may be a blocked injector. I have used injector cleaner in the tank but that hasn't done anything. I have been advised by a mechanic to put engine flush right in a near empty tank, or directly into the fuel filter as its possible I may have a blocked injector. He also advised to change the oil with 10w40 semi-synthetic, run it for a week or so, then change the oil again with 0w30 fully synthetic. the rational for this is there may be a problem with the hydraulic lifters. It has done 83 thousand miles. I had the cam belt changed on 79000, but I am wondering if the cam belt could have been put on badly as the mechanics I used to use are cowboys. does it have a tensioner etc? once running its mostly fine apart from rarely making the noise & struggling on acceleration from traffic lights etc. Does this sound like injectors? Lifters? or is there something else it could be as I changed the oil like 3000 miles ago (only gone that far in a year) and don't fancy wasting money on filters, oil, flush etc etc. thanks in advance :)
