Hi there, Ford fiesta, 2009, 1.6litre. Mileage 135k This may be a stupid question but today that ain’t stopping me. Yesterday oil light came on, checked oil and it was below min. Topped up to full and drove for half an hour today it was still on. Worried it might be the oil pump but then I started it later today (for around the 8th time since the light came on) a warning came on screen saying oil due next service - I see this message about once a year and Last service was 11k ago which adds up, but my question is should I refrain from driving still? Im due to work the weekend delivery driving and can’t get the car looked at until Tuesday earliest so it’d be out through its paces for two days relying on what is hopefully just an oil change… Thank you for your time! Rory

I'm a bit dumbfounded at what I am reading. The oil light coming on means shut the car off right away, not keep driving. Did I read that right? You went 11,000 miles between oil changes? If you did both of those things you shouldn't own a car. The oil light coming on relates to a human having a heart attack. Granted, it could be a faulty light but continuing to drive is not how you determine that. Change the oil immediately and see what happens. If the oil light comes on again STOP the car and have it towed to the shop and see if it can be saved at this point. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Rory! Zackery - shut down right away not keep going or it isn't going to anyway so choose where you want it to be when it croaks. Don't watch some screen telling you it's old now + abused IMO badly that long + miles if good still might not be low if it was good so leaking or burning. To carry on a decent shop doing just oil or quick services still should state leaks if seen or other warnings if seen OR YOU if you do your own. Check now without driving it for what damage it is expect to be told engine is NG now in fact plan on it, Tom
