I have replace the coil pack from a junk yard, I still have no spark on 1 or 4 cylinder. The car is a 1989 Chevy Corsica. Is there anyway to test a coil pack or where should I be looking at? BTW its a 4 cylinder with 170,000 miles on it. Thanks Joe

The first thing i would try is swapping the coil with the other coil just to make sure the coil itself is not the problem. If the problem remains the same, then you likely have a bad ignition control module under the coils. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Ok that was a pain in the butt. We have swapped the coils around and still no spark in number 1 or 4. Thanks Hammer! Our next one will be the ignition control module. Thanks again for the help Joe

Okay now I need some more help if you all can. After we swapped out the coils and there was no spark still in 1 or 4, we took the coils and the ignition control module down for testing. The coils are at 5.7 and 5.4 and new they should be around 8. They all tested fine inc the ignition control module. Not really sure where to check now? Any help would be really would be welcome. Joe

remove coil 1&4 from module and take a test light across the 2 terminals that feed the coil then crank the engine and see if the light blinks. If it does then the module is triggering the coil.If it does not suspect the module. If it does then I would check the 2 module terminals and check or replace coil. The plug wires for 1&4 are good?

The coils have already been swapped and the miss didn't move so that effectively eliminates the coils. All that is left is the Ignition module.
