Hi, my dad has a 1995 Nissan SE extended cab pickup. Not sure the engine size but it's got a little over 100,000 mi. He's having trouble getting fuel to the engine. Not sure if it's fuel pump problems or electrical. Is there a simple way to narrow it down? Thanks for any advice....Pete

The best way to avoid a misdiagnosis would be to hook up a fuel pressure gauge and take a reading. You should have around 35lbs psi.

Hey guys! Thanks for the help but still having problems. Not knowing if it was a faulty fuel pump my dad went ahead and bought one . We dropped the fuel tank and installed as was the old one. We're still not getting gas to the engine from the fuel feed line. If this helps any...We did rig up a garden sprayer and pressured it up and and tied it into the fuel inlet (omitting the fuel filter) and the engine did run. I did check the electrical connection that's plugged into the top of the fuel tank and we got juice(after the engine was started) to the new fuel pump. Any ideas???...Thanks again....Pete

What about the fuel pressure regulator? Or the fuel filter even? Maybe a clogged fuel line?

Stop throwing parts at is and use a fuel pressure gauge as you were instructed in the beginning. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

No problem. Like hammer-time said, do a fuel pressure test on it first. Then figure out why it's not getting enough pressure if it isn't.

You can't know if you even have a pressure problem if you don't read the pressure. Then you can know exactly how the fuel pump is acting.

Rite, but other things can mess up fuel pressure then just the fuel pump correct? Anything that's blocking flow of the fuel is a problem.

Again......... you don't know if you even have a fuel pressure problem. I dropped the tank and pulled the full pump assembly out again..Took the small "damper" off and blew thru it with an air hose. I didn't notice anything that came out.. But after hooking it back up, it still wouldn't start... This morning I went to the shop and tried cranking it...Guess what!?...It ran!!!...Don't know how long but for now it's running...Pete

Well it ran for awhile... Went down the road a few times and every thing was fine...Decided to make one more spin.Go a mile to the church and when I turned around to head back it died again...Had to tow it home... Any thoughts on the matter?...
