Hi all- I have 05 sentra,1.8L,4cyl. had gasket work done @ 58K by dealer (they said that antifreeze leaked into engine or something)it was giving heavy smoke, Ever since that job, my engine pick is slow, i.e, when i accelerate on Highway from ramp, it take almost double time to get to 60 as it use to before. I experienced jerking when I accelrate b/w 40-50mph speed while driving (when pumping accelerator to see how enigne is picking up speed). I put fuel cleaner, changed air filter thinking it might be tuning issue, but it didnt solve problem.CAR run fine on highway b/w 60-80mph,no excessive RPM,its just that accelerate takes long, even b/w changing lane when I floor my gas padel, it just wont pickup itself, I'm hoping it's not some engine issue, but can anyone help regarding this? I hate to go back to dealer since engine is past 60K warranty now(67k currently), I literally drove 9Kmile and this engine performance is downgrading ever since. thkx

There are a few possibilities here. You could have the timing belt installed incorrectly and off a tooth. You could have a plugged up Catalytic Converter from the coolant that was sent through the exhaust with the blown head gasket or there could be fuel pressure issues. It's going to take some testing to isolate the cause. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Make sure whomever diagnoses it knows the history of the car.

So,dealer checked car..they could'nt find anything wrong..no code, nothing. They drove it and say it seems fine.Only thing recomended is to do Throttle body service, charging 250$ for it,I declined. They also checked stereo problem, according to them,Left channel in DECk is faulty,so I have to replace whole thing, which is 1250$,,but nissan dont have it anymore since clarion dont make it, Dealer suggested to do aftermarket install, according to them, DECK means cd/radio as well as 6-CD changer and I have to replace all since it's one unit, I found it highly "B.S",I think I can just replace head unit & keep CD-changer if it comes to it....... Now, I showed vehicle to local mechanic too,He drove & say that engine is fine, He can only sense a little delay in Engine as car picks up, according to him I need Transmission Kit changed/with filter and TX oil. I asked for throttle service and it cost 60$ with him,Trans.cost 170$....Base idle is ok (750) and rest is fine too....BUT I STILL feel that jerk most of time (not all of time now) as I speed up on ramp or speed up on highway (say from 50 to 70mph), IF I accelerate slowly then it goes fine, still delayed in getting to 70 or 80mph as compare to what a normal sentra or even this one used to did a year ago. I'm out of options now...Need your advice... Btw!!! DOES throttle need some kind of setting once they clean it? similar to base idle setting? Update: Sept-16: Showed to another tech!! he suggested compression test, I scheduled diagnosis with him on Tues. Will update once I know something...btw..does anyone know how much headgaskit job cost?~ just a rough idea~
