Need help with Chrysler Pt Cruiser 08 Sign In

Hi guys,im having an issue with my 08 Pt Cruiser, engine light came on and the code it gaved me was P0456 ,i was checking and it said that it was either gas cap not tight enough or evap canister small leak..i inspected the gas cap and didnt notice any gas leaks so i suspect it could be the canister, next month im planing to buy a new car and my question is...can i hold this issue until next month?what could happen if i dont get this fix in a month/2 months time frame?..thanks for the help.

biggest issue would be - If a new more serious issue develops you will have no way of knowing because the warning light is already on.
you are misinterpreting code's - this says a small leak it does NOT condemn any parts - those are suggestions of places to look for the leak.
If you are trading in car soon do not worry BUT the buyer will consider the cost to fix in offer to buy this.... Try clearing code and operating see if it returns.

If it was serious when reset it would come right back on or soon.
Just for laughs a couple reasons can be if applicable that you put someone else's gas cap on it by mistake if situation is possible. Way overfilling gas tank on purpose, fault with pump shut off, or filling by gas can till it spills it's so full. Hate to admit I've done that to a real gas hog of a truck, knew what I did and it went out within a couple miles it used up so much gas!
Unless you notice it running improperly, odors and since you are trading it in soon I'm with Kev2 - just reset it for now,
